Scoring – Joe Berry, Washburn Rural:
Berry topped the city prior to the break with 23.3 per game over four contests. Close on his heels is Topeka West’s Elijah Brooks, who has averaged 22 points, albeit in just two games.
Rebounding – Dre Durall, Topeka West:
The 6-foot-3 senior has pulled down 9.5 rebounds a contest thus far. Time will tell if he can keep up the big increase from 5.7 rebounds as a junior.
Assists – Tre Alexander, Topeka West:
The 6-foot-3 junior guard dished out 6.0 assists in the Chargers’ first two contests. He averaged 3.4 as a sophomore, but he can also put in the hole himself. He averaged 14.5 points in the first two games.
Steals – Elijah Brooks, Topeka West:
The ultra-athletic 6-foot-2 sophomore averaged 3.5 steals per game. His rival as the city scoring leader, Joe Berry, is swiping 3.0 steals per outing.
Blocks – Carter Olson, Shawnee Heights/King Sutton, Topeka High:
These two rim protectors averaged 1.8 blocks per game in December. Sutton has been at this for a while. The 6-foot-6 senior blocked 2.5 a game last year. Olson, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, is a newcomer who’s making a name for himself.
