His offensive game continues to be a work in progress, but you see glimpses of what he could become down the line. PrepHoops caught up with Gassama recently to chat about his junior campaign at Desmet.
“We are doing pretty good so far. I am getting back because I was out for the first five games because I was hurt. I coming back now and getting in shape. Everything is going well now.”
What areas has he focused on in his game this season?
“Since the summer I think I have been working on a lot of my physical stuff. It is key in high school basketball to be ready physically and to play hard.”

“LSU, TCU, Kansas State, Tulsa, Missouri State, Illinois State, St. Louis, and Indiana State.”
What schools are showing the most attention early in the process?
“Kansas State, Tulsa, and sometimes Purdue.”
Purdue is a school that has been involved for quite a while monitoring his progress.
“I like Purdue. It is a nice school. They have a pretty good basketball program.”
Kansas State has had a lot of success recruiting St. Louis over the last few years and is making Gassama a priority.
“Their coach texts me a lot and they are really nice guys. I think I will go visit there soon.”
Gassama says that Michigan and West Virginia are two other programs that have shown interest, but haven’t offered yet.
