Last season Salisbury averaged 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists per game, while shooting 45% from the field. He played grassroots basketball with Strictly Skills.
Salisbury has shown off an impressive skill set this season. He’s a versatile player that can make a difference on the perimeter and in the paint. Salisbury reads the ball off the rim and attacks the glass. He takes pride in his defense and can guard multiple positions. Salisbury is good old fashioned energy player. He has a high motor and makes the hustle plays that win games. He knows that the one thing he can always control is his effort, and he’s willing to make sure he wins in that aspect of the game every time.
Salisbury is always trying to improve. He’s currently working on his shooting from deep. Salisbury has been willing to put in the effort and time at the gym in order to get better. He knows that with continued reps, the results will eventually show in game play.
Salisbury has become a veteran of the game. He was named a captain of the Constantine team as a junior. “There’s something special about being recognized by your teammates as someone they respect on the court and as someone they look to as a leader,” he said. Salisbury gained valuable experience playing a tough schedule with Strictly Skills during grassroots season.
Salisbury should start seeing the recruiting process pick up steam as his senior season plays out. He’s already received interest from a school and picked up an offer from Glen Oaks CC. Salisbury brings a lot to the table for whatever team he’s on. He’s willing to sacrifice anything for his team to be successful. “Would you rather score 25 points and lose or score 6 points and win? To me that answer is very easy. I don’t need the personal accomplishments. I need to bring value where I can to help my team.” Salisbury has a positive attitude that’s contagious in the lockerroom.
Trey Salisbury has goals he wants to achieve. This season, he wants to win a District championship. Salibury hopes to earn an offer to play college basketball from a 4 year college or university. He is aiming at graduating from college in 4 years with a degree in political science. Salisbury then hopes to go to law school and work to become a lawyer. After working at a law firm, he plans on putting his efforts towards running for state office, and eventually ending up in office in Washington D.C.
“The greatest motivation to me is the fact that I have been given the opportunity to be here on this Earth. There are so many things that had to happen in order for me to be here with the opportunities that I have in front of me, and it’d be silly of me to ruin that. When I think of my parents, I think of all the sacrifices they had to make to get me to where I am today. When I think of my grandparents, I think of how they raised my parents to be able to take care of me the way they have. When I consider all those that came before me, I realize that everything had to come together perfectly for me to be able to be right here right now. It is up to me to continue to push forward and never let down all those that put themselves on the line for their family. I have to succeed to make sure that their efforts are not in vain. I have to succeed to show that I deserve to be here. It’s a blessing to wake up every day, and I try to take full advantage of that blessing at all times.”
