“I’ve been playing as along as I can remember. I remember dribbling the ball in the kitchen and shooting out in the driveway when I was little. I don’t remember a time I wasn’t playing.”
I’m sure Baylor’s mom wasn’t happy about the dribbling in the house but Mrs. Harrop and the rest of the Fremont faithful have to be more than pleased with their 8-0 start to the season. With nine seniors on the team Fremont is the early favorite to win it all as we reach the midpoint of the season just before region play get’s underway.
Baylor Harrop is averaging 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assist per game. Baylor is part of the best backcourt in the state that features him and Dallin Hall who is a dynamic Division 1 prospect.
Baylor will reach the 1,000 point point mark in the next few games which is a feat in it’s own, but many young players often wonder how a player improves. Baylor says, “I just played a lot of basketball. Whether it was on my travel team, high school team or simply playing pick-up ball. I put in a lot of work and tried to improve all aspects of my game.” It’s hard to imagine how much Baylor could improve after dropping multiple 30 point games as well as a 40 point game. This year he simply looks like a more complete player that has improved on aspects of his game. When Baylor was a contributing freshman he found ways to affect the game.
Baylor prides himself in being an all-around player. He likes to continue to transform his game like Kawhi Leonard. “He is a really good all-around player. He is a good slasher but can also shoot and he is a great defender.”
Although Baylor is still undecided on what he would like to study next year in college, he knows his Top 5 NBA players.
- Michael Jordan
- Larry Bird
- Allen Iverson
- Magic Johnson
- Kobe Bryant
Not a bad list for a Jazz fan.
Baylor hopes to be part of the reason Fremont will raise that trophy at the end of the season. With a tough Region 1 coming up we know that him and his teammates will be battle tested.
