This JUCO game featured several high level players including the top junior college prospect in the country Jayden Scrubb. Logan took down an undermanned Rend Lake squad by a final of 112-67. Here are our Most Intriguing Prospects: John A Logan vs Rend Lake.
Jayden Scrubb (John A Logan – Sophomore)
Scrubb is the best junior college player in the country and has already committed to Louisville. He could potentially enter the 2020 NBA Draft after the season and had a pair of NBA teams in attendance to watch him on Wednesday night. Scrubb has nice size and strength on the perimeter at 6’6”. He is a plus athlete that has smooth acceleration going to the hoop. The two guard was at his best getting to the rack on straight line drives in the half court and transition. Finished through contact on a pair of and-1s. Drilled a couple threes in the second half, but overall struggled to connect from three. Plays with flair which sometimes leads to turnovers. Finished with 25 points.
Eric Boone (John A Logan – Sophomore)
Boone is a strong and tough sophomore guard that is a really good on ball defender that moves his feet laterally and causes havoc at the point of attack. Good finisher in the lane and gets on the offensive glass for a guard. Decent shooter hitting a mid-range jumper and a three. The 6’2” combo guard went for 13 points. Mid-major prospect.
Sydney Curry (John A Logan – Freshman)
Curry was a complete beast against Rend Lake. The 6’8” man-child is built like an NFL defensive end. He has that kind of explosion as well! Every single rebound all night was his grabbing them with his strong hands and quickly starting the break the other way. That was just the start of his damage on the night. Curry had massive dunks on alley-oops and one where he posterized a defender in a way we haven’t seen all year. He is a grown man! For his size he is quick and mobile in the post and finishes with power. Went for 19 points. High-major a year from now.
Jamarion Sharp (John A Logan – Freshman)
Sharp stands at 7’2” with an insane wingspan. He is a high-major prospect all the way! Truly elite shot blocker with his physical tools and feel for blocking shots without fouling. Covers so much ground with his wing span swatting and contesting almost any shot from 15 feet in. Also is a guy who will contest a stretch big man on the perimeter as well. Offensively he runs the floor great. Mobile on the offensive end in the pick and roll finishing with dunks. Flashed excellent footwork, but the touch wasn’t there on his low post moves. He had 8 points.
Trace Young (John A Logan – Sophomore)
Young is an intriguing prospect with his length and rangy build. The 6’7” Wyoming transfer has the prospect look. At times he can be wild with the ball and creates turnovers, but then will wow you with his upside. Athleticism around the rim is impressive with put back dunks and throwing down lobs in transition. Hit a pull up jumper. Potential to be a good defender. Went for 12 points.
