It was sold out for seven straight games with an awesome atmosphere and high level play on the court. Here we breakdown the prospects at the event with Highland Shootout: 2021 Illinois Evaluations!
Ahamad Bynum (Simeon – 2021)
Bynum is a microwave scorer who had it rolling on Saturday night! He shot about as high of a percentage as we have seen in one of his high scoring games going for 26 points (9-14FG) (7-12 3 PT). His jumper was definitely on fire as he drilled pull up three after three. Such an explosive scorer that when he gets rolling like he was on Saturday night he is unguardable. Outstanding effort out of the DePaul commit!
Mitchell Haake (Breese Mater Dei – 2021)
Haake is a 6’5” power forward that has nice strength and a solid skill set. Quality passer from his forward spot and is crafty around the hoop. Haake went for 7 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Nathan Hall (Collinsville – 2021)
Hall is a projectable 6’7” with bounce. He is a long and thin prospect that showed he could block shots with good timing. Didn’t shoot it as well as he usually does going 0-3 from deep. Had a couple finishes inside including an up and under. Hall had 4 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
David Granger (Collinsville – 2021)
Granger put his name on our radar as a 6’6” mobile four man that has some defensive potential. Didn’t score and only recorded 2 rebounds, but he is a guy that we think is worth monitoring with his physical tools.
Dylan Ingram (Simeon – 2021)
Ingram had a nice outing against Vashon. Played with toughness and put it on the deck on several occasions. Was rewarded with multiple trips to the free throw line where he went 6-6. Ingram finished with 10 points.
Fred Poole (Simeon – 2021)
Poole is a 6’2” two guard that starts for the Wolverines. The junior hit a three from the corner on his only attempt on the night from deep.
Phillip Holmes (Simeon – 2021)
Holmes is a 6’7” post that has intriguing physical tools with his broad shoulders, length, and mobility. Efficient with his touches around the hoop going 3-4 from the field for 6 points.
Grant Newell (Whitney Young – 2021)
It was a bit of a rough night for the state’s top junior power forward. Hit a mid-range jump shot, but that was the only one of his eight shots to fall on the evening. Never seemed to get in much of a rhythm on either end going for 2 points and 2 boards. Still like his upside long term as a face up four with athleticism.
Jaehshon Thomas (Whitney Young – 2021)
Thomas also had a quiet game for the Dolphins. The top 15 junior got to the line for his only two points and had a nice pass for an assist. Powerful build at the lead guard spot that is still trying to find his way with the Dolphins after transferring in from Aurora Christian.
