Jaden Bell – 2020 – G/W – Beloit Memorial
Bell didn’t appear in the second half for whatever reason, but showed some good things and backed up why he’s now ranked in the 2020 class. The 6-foot-2 senior has a lot of versatility and can do a number of different things on the floor. Bell has a nice build and can handle the point guard duties. He’s got a nice handle, able to create off the dribble for himself and others. With his size and length, he can defend a variety of positions as well. Bell isn’t necessarily a guy that puts up huge numbers, but somebody I think small schools would really like and have little difficulty finding a way to get him on the floor.
Sylwester Ware – 2020 – W/F – Sun Prairie
This kid gave the Cardinals a lot of juice on Thursday. A high-energy player, Ware works his tail off around the rim. When it comes to offensive rebounding, Ware just moves people and out-muscles them. Offensively, Ware is only about 6-foot-4, but plays bigger than his size. He was pinning and sealing people under the rim for easy scores. Ware showed good hands in traffic and loves to deliver/draw contact on his shots. Defensively, he also got off the ground and altered/blocked a ton of shots on Friday.
Azeez Ganiyu – 2020 – F – Beloit Memorial
Don’t know much about this kid, but this is one of the most explosive jumpers in the state. If Ganiyu gets near the rim, he gets off the ground so quickly and can absolutely hammer the basketball through the hoop. The 6-foot-4 forward is undersized, but has some length and is still very, very raw. It was just one viewing, but Ganiyu seems to be limited to scoring around the rim and working underneath the hoop for second chance opportunities. He does protect the rim at a high level and had some eye-opening blocks as well. The senior had 13 points against a ranked Sun Prairie squad. Perhaps he’s someone that junior college programs want to take a look at and see if they can develop into something.
Delaware Hale – 2020 – F – Sun Prairie
Hale didn’t play in the second half of a blowout. In the first, he showed some new things. The high-upside forward is starting to shoot the ball from 3-point range. It’s a work in progress, but Hale was looking to shoot from the outside a lot more than he’s shown in the past. The 6-foot-7 forward also handled the ball better and brought it up the floor at times. Hale dominated the glass in the first and half and probably pulled down at least eight rebounds. He also had an exciting transition slam, running all 94 feet before he threw down a one-hand flush on the break.
Colin Schaefer – 2020 – PG – Sun Prairie
I still don’t think people know how good Schaefer is as a prospect. He’s got a Division 2 and a junior college offer on the table, but he’s someone that WIAC programs should be all over. The senior guard had 25 points and 6 assists in Thursday’s win. Facing a zone most of the night, Schaefer knifed through the defense and attacked gaps. From there, he either got to the rim, pulled up and hit consistently from mid-range, or kicked out to an open shooter. A skilled ball handler that plays with great pace, Schaefer is also a leader and floor general that dictates the game. We’ve seen this kid go out to Spiece and absolutely light up some really good programs as well. His measurables might not be great, but Schaefer is also a really good football player and if you look at Sun Prairie’s record since he came back from injury last season, we’re comfortable having him in the top 25.
