Updated 2020 Rankings Breakdown: Stock Risers
Prep Hoops Maryland recently updated the class of 2020 player rankings. Gathering a list of players and choosing which rank best fits the individual was a tall task, but we do our best to keep them updated every three months. Our recent update includes an increase in the number of players ranked from 170 to 185. Here we resume our breakdown series by highlighting 7 stock risers.
#62 | KEYSHAWN JOHNSON | 6’1″ SG | FAIRMONT HEIGHTS | PREVIOUS RANK: 96
Johnson is on an absolute tear to start his senior campaign. He’s scored 30 or more in back-to-back games and is one of the best shooters you will find in the DMV. Expect Johnson’s breakout season to continue as Fairmont Heights looks to contend in 1A.
#70 | MARTYNAS SABALIAUSKAS | 6’6″ F | ST. JAMES | PREVIOUS RANK: 89
Sabaliauskas has grown 2 inches in the past year, and this makes him an even more dangerous matchup. He shoots it at a high clip and the added size makes him tougher to defend. Not only is Sabaliauskas a capable floor spacer, but he also plays with a high motor, which sets him apart from many.
#76 | PATRICK STRITE | 6’5″ SF | BISHOP WALSH | PREVIOUS RANK: 112
Strite has accepted an increased role in his senior year for Coach Dan Prete. Not only is he a knockdown shooter from three, but he contributes to wins by boxing out and rebounding in his area. Strite has good size for a wing, moves well without the ball and is very efficient while in possession.
#81 | TEO RICE | 6’2″ G | MARET | PREVIOUS RANK: 100
Rice has put together a few monster performances to start the year as he’s scored 30 or more a couple of times already. Not only is he becoming more assertive on the offensive end, but he also competes defensively.
#86 | ANDRES FRYE | 6’3″ G | MCLEAN | PREVIOUS RANK: 102
Frye is putting up double-doubles and flirting with triple-doubles on a nightly basis. He is the most productive player in the PVAC by a mile and has been so for a couple of years now.
#114 | ELIJAH CRAWFORD | 6’3″ F | POTOMAC | PREVIOUS RANK: 155
Crawford is a big-time athlete who can impact the game without commanding many touches. His best attributes lie defensively where he racks up defensive stats as a result of his combination of length and his high motor.
#115 | MARKEITH FRANKS | 6’5″ F | GWYNN PARK | PREVIOUS RANK: 159
Franks is a sturdily-built forward with good athleticism and a high motor. He’s embraced his leadership role and has become a consistent producer for Coach Rob Garner.
