The Tuesday Night Elite
What South Dakota basketball players around the state had the biggest Tuesday night? We run through the names now in The Tuesday Night Elite.
Trever Burke of Corsica-Stickney. The Jags earned a second win in as many games last night smacking Avon by 40. Before he took an early seat for the night the 6-foot-1 Burke earned a double-double in a short night’s work. The 6-foot-1, 170 pound wing had 21 points with ten boards.
Coy Determan of Gregory. Coy is a 6-foot-2 sophomore with a shooting stroke that has him playing the majority of the games early in his career. Last night the Gorillas knocked off Chamberlain by a score and Gregory needed each and every one of the six threes that Determan drained. He had a game high 29 in the win.
Connor Hollenbeck of St. Thomas More. The Cavs improved to 3-0 last night with a convincing win over Douglas. Six-foot-5 senior Connor Hollenbeck was the game changer last night scoring 21 points in a variety of ways on one end, and completely disrupting what the opponent did defensively on the other end.
Blaze Lubbers of Harrisburg. You have to locate 6-foot-2 junior Blaze Lubbers when you enter the gym. This young man lives in the gym which is why when he catches fire with his touch games change. Last night he changed the game with Brookings making five threes and scoring 22 points in a four point win over Brookings.
Kelby Olson of Belle Fourche. Olson was one of the elite football players in South Dakota over the fall and he’s moved right into the basketball season having success as well. Olson is a 6-foot-1, 170 pound guard that attacks physically and rebounds better than most guards. Last night he had 21 and six in a win over Sturgis.
Reggie Slaba of Hanson. Regardless if he’s running on the track, sprinting away from defensive backs, or pushing the ball in transition, senior Reggie Slaba of Hanson is one of the quickest athletes out there. Last night Reggie ran away from MCM for 25 points in a 20 point win.
