The Team Rose Shootout this past weekend was a tremendous two day event featuring 14 games and 28 teams. It was a great evaluation tool for us to see a ton of quality prospects. Now it is time to dive into our superlatives from the event. Today we have Team Rose: Top Slashers!

Josh Holmes (De La Salle – 2020)

Holmes has been mostly known as a plus shooter throughout his career, but against Riverside Brookfield it was more his slashing and ability to put the ball on the deck that impressed.

Paul Zilinsksas (Riverside Brookfield – 2020)

Like Holmes it wasn’t the usual strength of Zilinskas’ game that impressed us most. He was able to use his improved handles and strength for scores in the paint.

DeAndre Hagan (Brother Rice – 2020)

Hagan is a powerful wing that loves to attack downhill with his strength and athleticism.

Tevin Smith (Danville – 2021)

Smith isn’t all the way back to his old elite athlete form yet from his injury, but he displayed flashes of it with his ability to get to the rim over the weekend.

Ramean Hinton (Curie – 2020)

This SEMO commit has tremendous toughness and athleticism at the two guard spot. He is a physical slasher that wins off the bounce on straight line takes.

Julius Rollins (Hillcrest – 2021)

It was a slow start for Rollins in their game against Curie, but he got it rolling in the second half. Rangy combo forward that puts it on the deck in the open floor and half court.

Devin Davis (Westinghouse – 2020)

Davis is a scoring point guard that loves to use his quickness and shiftiness to win off the bounce. Got the biggest bucket of the game late to net the victory against St. Ignatius.

Terrance Ford (Leo – 2021)

Ford has bounced around high schools the last few years, but one thing remains true is this kid can handle the basketball with his short area quickness getting in the lane for scores.

Jalen Houston (Hyde Park – 2021)

Houston is a 2021 point guard on the rise. He is coming off a strong summer and is now the go to guy on an up and coming Hyde Park team. He was productive slashing for scores at Team Rose.

Norvell Meadows (Orr – 2020)

Meadows is a high volume scorer that tends to force shots, but when he gets rolling like he did at times at Team Rose he can get his team back in games with his scoring game in the lane.

Blake Peters (Evanston – 2021)

Peters is an elite shooter that showcased he is more than just a sniper with his improved ball handling and scoring on the move in their big win Sunday!

Christian Henry (St. Rita – 2021)

Henry has continued to post big numbers in the early part of the season. The St. Rita combo guard is a dynamic slasher that pushes in the open floor and is a good finisher in the paint.

Jaylen Drane (Simeon – 2022)

Drane has one of the best handles in the 2022 class with how he puts combination moves together to score on drives to the hoop.

Mikel Jones (Farragut – 2022)

Jones is a powerfully built wing that overpowers his opponents on drives through traffic. Has a little more shake to his game than his brother.
