Continue ReadingSimeon 2020 small forward Jeremiah Williams is one of the premier unsigned prospects in the state of Illinois coming into the season. The tough wing is a stat sheet stuffer that rebounds, scores, and defends. He brings a lot of intriguing tools to the next level. We caught up with the Simeon senior to discuss the latest with his recruitment, but began with his transition to the Wolverines from St. Laurence.
“Everything has been smooth. The teammates have bought in with Coach Rob (Smith) learning the offense. I am just getting in my rhythm and figuring everything out.”
What have been the biggest differences?
“At Simeon everything is detailed. Coach Rob runs a tight ship and we all have a set goal to win city and state and get better every time we step on the court. Paying attention to details and how we work.”
Williams took official visits to Valparaiso and Akron early in the fall along with an unofficial to Southern Illinois. He decided to hold off on making a call. Williams walked us through that decision.
“I wasn’t really comfortable with what I had. I needed time to think about what I wanted to do. I didn’t want to rush into a commitment and not be fully committed. Me playing the season out is better for myself and being 100% with my decision.”
Are those three schools still under consideration for him?
“Yes for sure.”
He says to this point only one school has really reached out and that has been Missouri out of the SEC.
“Mizzou has stopped by a couple times to our open gyms and I have talked to Coach Martin. They have been pretty good and I have been watching them on ESPN. Xavier Pinson is there and is part of the Simeon pipeline. He likes everything that is going on there and seems like they are building a great thing.”
