At times he can carry his team with his scoring as a three level bucket getter. We spoke with Barnes to find out what the latest is with his recruitment.
“Since my offer from Illinois I have had a few schools reach out. Colorado State has reached out. Gonzaga has also reached out.”
The OPRF junior dived into each of those three schools that are actively recruiting him.
Illinois
“Me and Coach Chin (Coleman) have been building a nice little relationship. We talk about how the team is doing. Our relationship is growing.”
Colorado State
“They hit me up after a game or if they have a big game coming up. Little stuff like that.”
Gonzaga
“I talk to him a lot. He has come out to see me a few times. He has told me to keep working and keep playing hard. He said I am developing nicely.”
Barnes showed flashes last year and made a major growth this summer with his high school team and on the circuit with the Illinois Wolves. Where has he seen the most improvement in his skill set?
“I feel like I am taking more of a guard role and can still play in the post a little. Being more versatile. Also my decision and ball handling.”
Currently Barnes checks in as the #8 overall prospect in the PHI 2021 Rankings.
