Recruiting Report: Dsean Archilles (2020)
This has been a productive season so far for 2020 Mariner guard Dsean Archilles.
The 6’3″, 190-pounder has helped the Tritons start 8-2 here in 2019 while averaging 19.1 PPG. Archilles has five games with 20 or more points including a 27-point showing against Oasis on Dec. 9. His intensity and fast paced style are contagious on the court.
Transferring over from Oasis, Archilles teamed up with 2020 5’10” guard Elijah Adams at Mariner and says he thought it was a good choice to cap off his varsity career.
“New coach Ryan Hercek will tell you how it is and I love the way he coaches, he’s very honest,” Archilles told Prep Hoops.
Last summer, he suited up for Hoops On Mission and earned four MVP awards in the tournaments they participated in.
St. Thomas University and Albany State have both offered Archilles thus far. He says they love how he plays with a non-stop motor, can score at every level and play hard on both sides of the ball.
In terms of his top strengths, Archilles pointed to his driving and drawing in the defense to create open shots for his teammates. He says his biggest area of focus is his shooting.
Archilles is someone who plays with a chip on his shoulder and his soft spoken personality comes out on the basketball floor with his speed, dunking ability and transition play. He says is focused and not letting anyone stop him. Archilles plays this game for his brother Sean who passed away three years ago alongside Lehigh guard Stefan Strawder in a shooting in Southwest Florida in July 2016.
When talking to Archilles, he is a great kid who simply loves the game. Look for him to continue to succeed for Mariner as the Tritons continue to play good basketball in Cape Coral. A college will take a chance on this kid due to his hops, strength and ability to play the game the right way with a lot of purpose.
