But now it’s the senior’s turn to become the primary guy for the Cougars and he’s up to the challenge as he hopes to help the team return to the playoffs while generating some college interest for himself.
“There’s definitely some getting used to it,” Jordan said. “I was behind Chase and Matt (Van Tassell) the past three years so now I’m stepping into my own right now and getting my name out there. I’ve been working on my shooting a lot. I had a back injury and I sprained my ankle – I used to a slasher so now I’ve been working on my jumpers a lot more.”
Jordan and the Cougars are off to a fast start. Mountain View captured the title of the Wilsonville Invitational Tournament with three wins and the senior played a big role with his all-around game. He has solid size for a wing, has the ability to post up smaller players down low, and can face up and either create off the dribble or use an improved jumper with range. Last season he averaged 12.7 points and 5.1 rebounds – expect those numbers to increase in 2019-20.
Jordan hopes to continue playing on in college and he notes that Pacific has been the school that’s been in contact with him the most. “I liked their fast-paced play style and how they full-court press all game,” Jordan said. “I’m just looking for somewhere I can actually get minutes my first year. That’s my main goal, and also the education too.”
With all options open at this point, Jordan is simply looking forward to enjoying his senior season and doing his best on the basketball floor. “I’m just excited to play with my friends that I’ve had the last eight years of my life,” Jordan said. “We’ll see how it goes with all of them.”
Jordan currently ranks as the #55 played in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
