Prospect Spotlight: Devawn White (2021)
Devawn White, a class of 2021 wing from The Carmel School, was one of many prospects who stood out at this year’s Sleepy Thompson Tournament. The 6-foot-4 lefty, who came over from Montreal before this season, has made an immediate impact on the Wildcats with his effort and versatility.
“I like to attack the basket,” White told Prep Hoops when asked to describe his overall game. “I’m a lefty. I like to go to my left hand. When I have the pullup I take it. I can shoot the three if I’m open, and I’m working on my right hand.”
Although he predominantly uses his left hand while on the court, opponents still have a tough time forcing White to go right. That probably won’t work in the long run, but he is quite creative at finding ways to attack the defense with his strong hand. Even though he can get his pretty much whenever he wants, White’s goals revolve around making the team better.
“My individual goal is to play as hard as possible. Be hard-working. Get as many rebounds as possible. As a team, try to move the ball, play as fast as possible and work as a team.”
