Dominique Ford SG 6’3 Desert Oasis 2020- They say that sometimes you can learn more from a loss than you can from a win. Although Ford’s team came up short on Monday. They also played one of the most premiere school’s on the west coast in Wasatch Academy. Ford more than held his own up against a number of D1 level ball players scoring 33 points. Thus far this season Ford is third in the state in scoring averaging 28 points. His game is much more than scoring he is rebounding at an efficient rate and he’s averaging 2.5 steals per game. Last nights performance showed he can play with anyone. Ford is a dynamic catch and shoot player with deep three point range. He can slash and score in the paint. He can create his own shot. With his role being what it is on Desert Oasis he will be among the top scorers in the state once the season concludes.
ARBOR VIEW- They are a complete buzz saw as a team. They can win in so many different ways and have so much talent that it is ridiculous. They are a real contender to win state and Monday was just another game to show that. They beat Legacy 115-96 no overtime. This team just has a second gear they can shift into when they need to.
Donavan Yap 6’3 SG Arbor View 2020 (#5 2020) – Yap has shown thus far he can get what he wants whenever he wants, but he also has the ability to make plays for his teammates. Monday night Yap put that on full display with 29 points on 12-15 shooting. Yap also had 5 assists. On the year Yap is scoring lights out he leads the state on scoring averaging an insane 35.5 points per game. Yap has the ability to knock down consecutive shots in a hurry when he is hot he is hot and it seems like he is always hot.
Larry Holmes 6’2 SG Arbor View 2020 (#29 2020) Holmes has elite slashing ability, and range for days he is 1/2 of probably the scariest back court in the state and yesterday he was a problem scoring 22 points. Holmes showed a great ability to get to the free throw line with seven attempts. Holmes is one of the better two way players in all of the state he showed that with 4 steals on the night. His ability to get in and out of transition was completely telling and a large story to his teams runs.
David Moore 6’2 SF 2020 (#60 2020) – Moore’s calling card is his rebounding ability and he had 13 last night. Moore had a 16 point 13 rebound double double and he chipped in with 2 blocks. Moore did most of his damage inside going 8-11 around the basket. Moore is like the Draymond Green of this team he does the dirty work which allows his back court to flourish.
Mikey Medlock 6’3 SG 2020 (#52 2020) – Mikey Medlock for my money is the biggest X-Factor on this team. Defenses are so focused on Yap and Holmes. Than Medlock can go off for 25 points as he did on Monday and you are like WOW where that kid come from? Medlock is a major benefactor from playing with such a star studded back court. He is left open from long range a lot and he converted 5 three pointers yesterday. Medlock is a star. He can do everything you need him too and more. He doesn’t shy away from the big moment.
Ramses Nabong Foothill 2021- Here is a young man that maybe new to some but he’s the definition of making the most of an opportunity. He played 7 mins against Rancho last week and rewarded his 7 mins with 13 points 4 rebounds and 1 steal. He showed so much hustle and grit this night that he earned an opportunity for more minutes on Monday and he led the team in scoring with 13 points and chipped in with 4 rebounds and 1 steal on 21 minutes. Nabong is the definition of making the most of an opportunity and ceasing the moment. He was a huge catalyst in a strong win vs a worthy opponent.
Milos Uzan 6’3 PG Desert Pines 2022 (#3 2022) – Uzan, just does it all for his team. On Monday he led the team in points with 15 in rebounds 9 in assists 5 and lastly steals with 3. Uzan is a magnet with the basketball. One of his biggest strengths is his IQ and you can definitely tell he is the son of a coach. He shows great ball handles. Flawless change of direction. He is really a throwback PG in that his team follows his lead. That was on full display Monday.
