Kendall Burrell 5’10 PG Bonanza 2020 (#35 2020) – Burrell is one of the most dynamic scorers in the state. In addition to being a knockdown shooter, he also posses a tight handle and can get anywhere he wants on the floor. The Bengals have suffered several setbacks since the start of the season, and will probably rely heavily on the leadership and play of Burrell. If he is on, he’s one of the few players in the field that can carry his team to victory.
Meshach Hawkins 6’2 SG Chaparral 2020 – The “shach” has been off to a monster start. He’s a big, strong, physical athlete that plays downhill in transition. I will be the first to tell you, I have no idea how good Chap is, however, I have heard good things from other coaches, and I was fortunate to see a lot of Hawkins in the fall. While his future is most likely on the Football field, it will be exciting to see him compete in this event.
Mekhi Walker 6’3 PF Cimarron 2020 (#37 2020) – Walker will have to do it all for Cimarron. His ability to rebound, defend and score is going to be imperative to the success of the Spartans. He’s a good enough run and jump athlete, that he just may turn a few heads with his above the rim play.
Coleman Lemke 6’7 SF Faith Lutheran 2021 (#24 2021) – I’m taking a leap of Faith here, pun intended. A player of Lemke’s skill set just may excel in a tournament setting. Teams are not going to have the time to prepare for what he does, so I can see scenarios where he is able to play to his strengths and take advantage of mismatches.
Darnell Fizer 6’4 SG Silverado 2023 (#4 2023) – This tournament is set up for a player like Fizer to burst onto the map. Overly skilled for his age, he’s not going to be asked to do anything that he doesn’t do well. He’s a natural shooter, and because of the talent that surrounds him, he’s going to have plenty of opportunities. If he manages to shoot it well, he’s going to leave this event as a household name on the West Coast.
