Game Recap: It was an extremely scrappy game by both teams. Neither teams really shot the ball well the entire time. If Huntsville had shot better, it would not have even been close. Huntsville pressured the ball full court and caused a lot of chaos for James Clemens. It was pretty close until Huntsville was simply too much and pulled away in the fourth quarter.
James Clemens’ Key Players:
–Christian Brooks (#3): Christian was extremely good handling the ball the entire game. He never seemed phased by the pressure of Huntsville. He was able to attack with single and double moves, but struggled the entire game to finish. He shot 1-8 for the game.
–Jordan Frazier (#32): Jordan was the leading scorer for the Jets. He always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. His length made him the best defender, so at times he was matched up against Luke Guyette from Huntsville. He finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds.
Huntsville’s Key Players:
–Griffin Wray (#1): Griffin was a great corner three point shooter. He didn’t shoot particularly well (3-8), but hit 2 three pointers. Those 2 treys were enough to make James Clemens respect him. It also allowed him to use his shot fake and drive and dish to other teammates. He finished with 8 points.
–Jackson West (#23): Jackson was the big boy inside for the Panthers. His big body created problems for the opposing team and was able to contest and alter shots in the paint. He always finished strong and aggressively right at the glass making it hard to defend. He had a huge burst of momentum in the fourth scoring 5 straight points himself. He finished with 9 points and 5 rebounds.
–Luke Guyette (#2): Luke was clearly the game MVP. He was all over the court and did a little bit of everything. He attacks the basket well with both hands. He was able to get to the line the entire game where he finished 6-8. He was also extremely scrappy and even not afraid to talk a little bit of trash talk. He rebounding well, finishing with 6 to compliment his game high 15 points.
Huntsville will play Oxford on Friday in the Winner’s Bracket and James Clemens will play Columbia in the Loser’s Bracket.
