Below we take a look inside the action during Friday’s games and highlight who stood out among their teams.
Cherokee Trail Vs. Mountain Vista
Jermaine Vincent II led the way for CT, scoring a team high 18 points, shooting four of seven from behind the three-point arc. He was also a huge factor for CT on the glass, recording a double-double with ten boards. Tre Titus was second in scoring with 14, hitting three of six from long distance. He has now scored double-digits in all seven games to start the season. CT had a 31-28 lead going into halftime, after a hot first quarter scoring 19 points. 12 of those 19 points came from behind the arc, with both Jermaine and Tre hitting two in the first. Reece Kelly would lead Mountain Vista in scoring in the game with 22, majority of them coming in the second half. Mountain Vista would have three other players score in double figures with, Ben Bowen having 13, seven of which came in a monster fourth quarter by Mountain Vista to secure the win. Nathan Miller would add 12, and Rhys Pulling chipping in another 11. Vista would hold CT to only ten points in the fourth, compared to their 23 which would end up being the difference in the game, winning 67-56. This was the second time this season these two teams have squared off, the first was on 12/6 and Vista would win in a tight game 66-62.
Vista Ridge Vs. Legend
In the second game of the day, Legend would end up getting the 51-37 win over a young Vista Ridge team that battled all game. This was a very balanced game by Legend with a number of different players making their impact felt on the game. Cam LeVan, Braden Boley, Tanner Lamb were the three to lead them offensively. Legend did a nice job go sharing the ball, making the extra pass, often hitting a teammate for a wide open shot. They had seven different players score in the game. For Vista Ridge, it was Jabez Hasberry who had 11 and Trey Fowler 14 leading the way in scoring. Trey has now scored double figures in seven of the eight games this year and is very effective around them rim. He has also recorded six double-doubles in those eight games. Vista Ridge would battle all game but Legend was just to balanced as a team, it will be fun to see how this Vista Ridge team grows with such a young roster.
Fairview Vs. Thomas Jefferson
TJ would fall 46-58 in the end, but they gave Fairview all they could handle for most of the game. Both teams got off to hot starts with TJ leading 20-19 at the end of one, Ryan Moe for the Spartans would have 12 of his game high 24 in the first. He would go on to shoot four of five from behind the arc and was very effective mid-range and around the rim. The other spartans struggled offensively in the game but had an impact on the defensive side of the ball, flying around and creating havoc. Players like, Said Mobasher and James Abbey jr. Another player that stood out for TJ was junior, Jordan Jackson would had several nice rebounds, at 6’5 he has good size and made his presence felt. For Fairview, they had three different players score in double figures, with junior Greysen Carter leading the way with 14, ten of which came in the fourth. He would match TJ’s team total for that quarter. Jalen Page had 11 and Grant Page had 10 for the Knights, and TJ Williams would add eight more, six of which coming from behind the arc.
Cherry Creek Vs. Lincoln
Julian Hammond would lead the way for the Bruins, scoring 26 points, Myles Purchase would add 12 and freshmen Christian Hammond made a big impact on this game for the Bruins. He had nine points, including going four for four from the foul-line and was not fazed by the moment. Thomas Hawley also continued his strong play for the Bruins, scoring eight points and making his presence felt on the defensive side of the ball. Sebastian Cole took two huge charges in the fourth quarter which were game changers for Creek late in the game. It was a tight first quarter with both teams tied up at 12 a piece, and Creek would take a 28-22 lead into half-time. It was fun to see the battle between TJ Bamba and Ty Foster going up against the three guards for the Bruins have in, Cole, Hammond and Purchase. Julian and TJ who defend each other a large portion of the game which was a battle within itself. Julian did a nice job for the most part on TJ, he would end the game with 25. Cole and Purchase would take turns guarding Ty often making it difficult for him to get to his spots on the court.
