Junior Arumbala — Wray
Arumbula is a smaller guard but what he has been able to do to begin the season is nothing to overlook. He is at 11 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.3 steals a game but what is also impressive is with all of that he is also able to dish it to open players and set his guys up. He is at 7.8 assists a game to lead all of 2A and he is doing everything he can to put his team in winning positions.
Cole Christensen – Sangre de Cristo
Christensen made our list for one of the top scorers in the state through five games at 25.6 points a game but he is also the team’s best floor general as well and makes good decisions when the ball is in his hands. He scores in various ways and is also able to get others involved as well. He is the captain and best player on the 5-0 Thunderbirds and if he is able to keep up that kind of scoring coupled with anywhere 6.4 assists a game as well then they are in good hands.
Coletin Mazerall –Simla
Simla has not been having a good season at all and a ton of it has to do with the fact that they do not score a ton of points a game. They average just over 38 points a game which makes it more impressive that their point guard is leading the team in scoring as well as assists a game. His 6.2 assists a game so far is amongst the top of 2A and has him as a very difficult player to guard. With so much emphasis on him, it is great to see him still be able to put his teammates in positions to score as well. He will surely have to get some more wins under his belt with those kinds of numbers.
Moises Cabral – Parkhill Christian
Moises has quietly put together one of the most consistent high school careers the past four seasons as one of the better scorers in the smaller classes and this season also showed off that he can score the basketball and also get others involved. He is the player that the team feels comfortable running the offense through as they understand he is going to make the right plays. He is at 15 points a game and also has five rebounds and five assists to go along with it as one of the more versatile players in all of the smaller classes.
Tate Bessire – Highland
Highland is off to a great 5-1 start of the season and is an entertaining team that puts up 80 points a game. A big reason that they are able to score all of those points is through their senior guard Tate Bessire who is off to an impressive 23 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.7 steals a game and that is also being one of the more willing passers at 5.3 assists a game. They are going to ride their senior guard and continue to feed him the ball as he does a bit of everything but also knows that he will also get others in on the action as well with very good passes.
