Jemaine Seagears does an excellent job of creating an organized, efficient, competitive environment. The camp begins with skill work and concludes with an all-star game of the top 20 players in attendance. It’s one of the easiest camps to evaluate because the camp attracts the top players in the area and he makes sure competition is always at its highest. In this article, PH takes a look at the MVP and 1st and 2nd team performers from the WODE Freshmen/Sophomore camp.
MVP: Sebastian Mack 6’1 SG Durango 2023 (#1 PHN 2023) – Easy choice for MVP. Mack made tough shots look easy all day. High level scorer with a bright future.
1st Team
Sterling Knox 6’3 SG Durango 2023 (#3 PHN 2023) – Sniper that was consistent all day. Knox piled up points quickly.
Gianni Rodriguez 6’3 Sierra Vista 2022 – Perhaps the most versatile offensive player at the camp. Showed a great handle and created for teammates.
Donovan Webster 6’2 Cheyenne 2022 (#24 PHN 2022) – Perhaps no player raised his stock more than Webster. Terrific run and jump athlete that was dominant at times.
Seargant Jeffrey 6’3 Coronado 2022 – Fabolous two way player that has an extremely high ceiling. Great in transition all day. Finished around the rim and created plays for teammates.
Jayven Jones 6’0 Centennial 2022 – Physical guard that showed the ability to get consistent paint touches. Good first step, perhaps the best finisher through contact.
2nd team
Elijah Burney 5’8 Centennial 2023 – PG with a jumper. Burney can drive and has the ability to beat you from outside. High IQ point guard.
Jaques Williams Jr 5’10 Arbor View 2022 – Williams displayed an advanced array of moves. Liked that he competed on the defensive end as well.
Nick Jefferson 5’11 2024 – Pure shooter that was lethal all day. More than held his own against the older players at the camp.
Osvaldo Biebrich 6’3 PF Desert Pines 2023 – Thought he was the best pure rebonder at the camp. He frustrated me with his inability to finish several close range shots, however when I went back and looked at the film it was impressive to see how he created those shots for himself.
Jaiden Fisher 5’10 Desert Oasis 2023 (#9 PHN 2023) – Just a solid player that goes under the radar. He didn’t really do anything flashy, but he showed a command of the offense and picked his spots well.
