While some of the state’s top talent towers over the rest of its competition, there are a lot of diminutive dynamos in North Jersey. To be included in this list, all the players had to be shorter than 6’0. With that being said, here are the top sub 6-Foot players in North Jersey.
Jayden Pierre, 6’0 PG Elizabeth 2022
Pierre just squeaks onto this list as he is right at 6’0. The sophomore point guard is a blur with the ball in his hands as he excels at pushing the ball up the floor. He has good handles and knows how to score when he gets around the basket. Pierre played his freshman season at the Patrick School and should have a major impact for Elizabeth this season.
Richie Greaves, 6’0 PG Roselle Catholic 2020
Another player who squeaks onto the list because of height, Greaves is one of the more underrated point guards in the state. The Binghamton commit can light it up from beyond the arc, but he is more than just a shooter. Greaves has good handles and is capable of running the offense. Roselle Catholic is one of the top teams in New Jersey and Greaves is responsible for running the Lions’ offense.
Sean Dillon, 5’10 PG New Providence 2020
The Seton Hill commit led New Jersey in assists and is looking to duplicate the feat in his senior season. Dillon is a heady point guard that excels in the half court and making good decisions with the ball. He can torch defenses from behind the arc and is a pest on the defensive end. New Providence won Group 1 last year and could do it again with Dillon returning at point guard.
Will White, 5’9 PG St. Peter’s Prep 2020
White is overshadowed by his more well-known teammate Mark Armstrong, but he is a tremendous basketball player. The 5’9 senior facilitates the offense for St. Peter’s Prep, allowing Armstrong to be more of a scorer in the half court. White is a good shooter from distance, but his real strength is setting up his teammates for easy baskets. St. Peter’s Prep could be one of the surprise teams in New Jersey this season and one of the leaders of the charge will be White.
Noah Harris, 6’0 PG Rutgers Prep 2021
Harris is not a pure point guard like some of the other players on this list, but he is a floor general. His shooting is second to none and is in range when he steps in the gym. Harris is not just a shooter as he has a quick first step and good handles. Trey Patterson absorbs most of the attention for Rutgers Prep, but Harris is the key to the Argonauts’ success in Non-Public B South.
Jaheim Tanksley, 5’8 PG Patrick School 2020
Tanksley is not a well-known name, but he is an electric play-maker on the perimeter. His lightning quick first step allows to blow by defenders and can finish around the rim. Tanksley can make opponents pay from deep and has a solid mid-range game. He is playing for Patrick School National as Tanksley looks to improve his stock for college coaches.
