High level mid-range shooter especially in his pull up game. Also a very good three point shooter. Pettigrew gets to the rim for athletic scores in the paint. Works extremely well around ball screens as a passer and shooter. Tough on ball defender that puts pressure on opposing lead guards.
He made the switch over to Meanstreets to finish out his summer.
“EYBL was great competition and exposure. I liked my coaches and teammates. It was a good experience all-around.”
Where has he seen the most improvement in his game from freshman to sophomore season?
“My shot got a lot better. A lot of time in the gym. Finishing around the rim and getting everyone involved.”
He will team up with #2 junior Bryce Hopkins to form a dynamic duo in the Chicago Catholic League.
“It is looking really nice. We are looking real dangerous. I think we can make a run this year and next year. We have a lot to look forward too.”
What will his role be this season?
“I think getting everyone involved and scoring more. Being a defensive presence.”
Pettigrew recently scored his first offer from Penn State while on a visit to the Big 10 program.
“I went to Penn State for an unofficial visit. It was nice with the Bryce Jordan Center. The coaching staff was great and it was fun all around. They liked my game with mid-range and threes. They like who I am as a person. They are big on attitude.”
Penn State is the only program to show significant interest at this stage, but several others have liked what they saw in open gyms.
“Purdue, Chicago State, and Texas I performed well in front of.”
