In this conference you will find the likes of Julian Strawther, Jaden Hardy, Jaxon Kohler and a laundry list of other young men who are going to wreak havoc in the NCAA and the NBA for years to come. Besides the household names we know about in this conference. This division also has a number of gems that are primed to have great seasons. Let’s meet some of them.
Kaden Jackson 6’5 G Green Valley (2020)- Jackson is an extremely versatile young man that can play both back court spots and the wing if asked too. He has an extremely smooth game and can pick his spot on the floor. He’s a fantastic finisher in traffic. It seems like most of the shots I’ve watched from him in the lane he is scoring on two or three guys. He has a great head fake and has the ability to use his height for contact which puts his defender in foul trouble. He is a great rebounder. He had a few games last year where he logged in 10+ rebounds he had a season high 13 against Desert Oasis. In this conference there is no such thing as an easy night. Last season against highly ranked Coronado Jackson hauled off a fine performance scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. He’s the lead catalyst for Green Valley and a player worth keeping an eye on just because his usage rate will be so high.
Eli Habighorst 5’11 G Foothill (2020)- If I could describe Habighorst in one word that would be dedicated. He loves the game of basketball. If you go on his twitter you’ll read things such as “Keeping my eyes on the prize” and “Hoopin all summer don’t HMU for anything else.” All that hooping he did in the off-season has paid off as he helped lead his LV Elite Henderson team to a Jam on it Memorial Day Championship victory. In one of those games Habighorst hit 16 points in the first half. He ended that game with 25 points and seven three pointers. Habighorst best aspect is his heart. You can never measure heart. Game wise he’s a knock down shooter he’s strong defensively. He will look to translate a big summer into a prosperous senior year.
Drake Booker 6’2 G Foothill (2021) – One of the key additions to this division is Booker. Booker may be one of the most lethal players in all the valley and the legend of Drake Booker has been a thing since middle school. Booker is an explosive athlete. Booker can get into the lane, and finish at the rim like no other. He has a shifty first step. Now that he will be the primary option at Foothill. I expect a huge season from Booker. His team is loaded around him but it is built perfectly for his skill set. Foothill is a team comprised of a lot of shooters so Booker’s assist numbers are a story to watch.
Aaron Price 6’5 PF Liberty (2022) – When Price transferred over from Liberty the rich got richer. His impact maybe felt from off the bench. If high school had a six man of the year award Price would be my hands down favorite if eligible. With a team with championship aspirations a dominant 6th man is something you need. Don’t believe me? How big was Fred Van Vleet for Raptors last year? Or Andre Igoudala to the Warriors success? Price is a big space eater with great size, rebounding and athleticism. He maybe the X factor to Liberty’s success because not a whole lot of teams can match the overall depth Liberty will have.
Demetrius Vigil 6’3 Basic (2020)- Vigil a two sport athlete that averaged 32.3 ypc this season as a WR which is a phenomenal average. That alone should tell you how explosive of an athlete this young man is. His best game a season ago came against Green Valley where he went toe to toe with Kaden Jackson and scored 18 points. Vigil for his height is a solid rebounder he averaged about 4 rebounds per game last year. Vigil has a solid mid range game and shifty feet. Vigil will have a huge year because Basic will rely a lot upon him after losing one of their best player’s Isiah Belch to rival Foothill.
