Chambana Classic Preview
One of the top high school teams in America is coming to Champaign, Illinois to play a pair of early season matchups against Midwest prep powers. On Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16 Prolific Prep out of California will play a pair of games at Champaign Centennial High School in the Chambana Classic.
Prolific Prep has featured high major players and future NBA draftees over the last few years and this year’s group is loaded as ever! The headliner is top 5 2020 five-star recruit Jalen Green. The elite level two guard is projected as a lottery pick after his one year in college. He will make his college choice on Christmas. From an Illinois perspective there is a pair that in-state fans are well aware of. Top 25 national recruit Nimari Burnett played his freshman year at Morgan Park before moving out to California. Since he has blossomed into one of the top combo guards in the nation. Burnett’s final four schools are Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, and Texas Tech. Illini fans will get a chance to check out their future forward Coleman Hawkins. The Chicago native committed to Illinois this fall and will sign next week. The roster is more than just those three with an array of other D1 talent.
Their opponents also have high-major prospects. On Friday St. Louis Christian will take on Prolific Prep. Their star player is 2021 wing Jordan Nesbitt who already holds multiple Big 10 offers. Saturday’s opponent Apire Prep is anchored by Kansas commit Gethro Muscadin. The 6’10” mobile center is a skilled post offensively that protects the rim on the other end.
