Recruiting Report: Cavan Reilly (2022)
Every time we see Cavan Reilly play, he finds a different way to impress. He was tabbed as one of the best shooters from the DC JamFest, but there’s much more to his overall game.
“I’m known most for my shooting. That’s my best ability, but this summer I’ve been trying to work on all parts of my game,” Reilly told Perp Hoops. “So when they’re closing out, drive, pull-ups, but obviously I’m a knock-down shooter.”
Last month at the Virginia Top 250 Expo, Reilly was one of the biggest standouts. He demonstrated a versatile scoring arsenal that included consistent shot-making ability and aggressiveness off the bounce. Reilly did his due diligence on the boards and competed on the defensive end.
“I play a lot of good defense,” he explained. “A lot of people see me and they don’t think I can play defense, but I’m not afraid to guard your best player. That’s what I do.”
Reilly stated that he’s currently working on tightening his handle along with his point guard skills. It will be interesting to see just how much these attributes have improved the next time we see him. College coaches have already taken notice of Reilly. He recently picked up his first offer from James Madison. Expect that to be the first of many offers for the talented 6-foot-3 guard prospect.
What is Reilly’s goal for the upcoming season?
“To win states. Last year we made it to the VISAA Final Four, but I think we can win it this year.”
Cavan Reilly is currently ranked by Prep Hoops as a top-35 prospect in his class. To view the full ranking of Virginia’s 2022 class, click here.
