A self described tweener, Florence brings terrific athleticism to the floor and a combination if post moves, ball handling and an emerging outside shot.
He spent the offseason playing on the Adidas Gauntlet against some of the top competition in the country and says the experience has helped prepare him for the upcoming season and beyond.
“Playing in the higher level it prepares me to play on college and in highschool,” he says. “And I’m playing against kids taller than me and against bigs that play out and in the paint.”
He says he doesn’t have individual goals for the upcoming season, but is instead focused on the Campus team.
“ I’m looking to continue developing my entire game ball handling, passing and shooting and finishing at the rim I’m also lifting weights and trying to improve my overall IQ for the game,” Florence said.
Florence says his parents and coaches Steve Church and Adrian Sims have had the biggest impact on his basketball career to date.
“They helped me get better and influence me to be better,” Florence says. “Coach Steve is my aau coach and adrian is my trainer for shoot it better.”
A fan of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant and Paul George, Florence says he appreciates the versatility each player brings to the floor.
“They play aggressive and they shoot shots like they guards,” he says. “I workout a lot to have the skill set like them. I practice their skill set to make me be like them but better.”
Florence says he has not yet drawn any offers from college programs.
“I’ve been working really hard grinding in the for the opportunity to get offers from colleges,” he said.
