Recently we created our first Prep Hoops Nevada Freshmen Rankings. In this article, PH takes a look at some of those freshmen poised to make an immediate impact.
Sebastian Mack 6’1 SG Durango – I once was at a 14U AAU game where the other team refused to take the court simply because Mack was playing. In my completely biased opinion, Mack is one of the top players in the class of 2023. An absolute scoring machine with a lighting quick 1st step and a wet jumper. He plays in a loaded backcourt at Durango, however, he may end up being too good to keep off the floor.
Sterling Knox 6’3 SG Durango – One of the purest shooters in the class. It’s too early to say who’s going to play Batman or Robin, however, one thing I do know is that the combination of he and Mack on the same team is going to be a scary sight for opponents for years to come.
Osiris Grady 6’6 C Silverado – Grady spent all summer playing up on the AAU circuit and dominating freshmen and sophomore camps. Good athlete with the ability to play above the rim. He has terrific hands and runs the floor well. Expect Grady to make an instant impact for a loaded Silverado squad.
Darnell Fizer 6’4 SG Silverado – The guy who may have the highest ceiling in this class is Fizer. A JR Smith clone, Fizer has a hair-trigger and can get hot in an instant. Textbook form and mechanics on his shot. At 6’4 he has tremendous size to play the wing and has the athleticism to finish at the rim.
Jake Bevalqua 5’10 PG The Meadows School – In my opinion Prep Hoops was created specifically for players like Bevalqua. He will not go under the radar if I can help it. Bevalqua has one of the highest IQ’s I’ve seen for a player at that age. A pure PG that understands how to control the entire game. He plays at a terrific pace and is a knockdown shooter that uses head fakes, and hesitations to create space for his shot.
