Profile:
Miller comes into the season as the co-favorite to win Mr. Basketball. Why wouldn’t he be? The 6’4” lefty combo guard has such an explosive offensive game. He is a three level scorer that puts up points in a hurry! Crisp ball handler that is at his best when mixing up drives using his handles to get to the rim. He can drill the stop and pop mid-range pull up as well as create his own shot from distance. One of the truly elite prospects and scorers in the state.
Odds to Win:
2/1
Why He Can Win:
First let’s start with name recognition. Most casual high school basketball fans and writers across the state are already aware of Miller coming into the season. He has the Peoria connections which will help with downstate voters. Miller will also have several opportunities to play in front of non-Chicago area voters as Morgan Park will travel down to central Illinois and southern Illinois for a variety of games during the year. At the end of the day he is the best player on one of the best teams in the state and plays an exciting style of basketball.
Obstacles to Win:
He will have to share some of the spotlight in the backcourt with Marcus Watson who is one of the better point guards in the state in his own right as he will be another featured Mr. Basketball candidate later in the month.
