Here are the Let’s Get Ready III Most Outstanding Player and Honorable Mentions.
Most Oustanding Player
Jaylen Hodges (2021, 6’3″, Saginaw Bridgeport)
Hodges was simply dominant. He showed and used his pure athleticism all day. But he didn’t just out athlete other players. Hodges found lanes to the bucket, and when there were none open, he put the ball on the floor and created them. He was a finished strong at the rim and did so at a high percentage. Hodges also showed a consistent jumper with range extending beyond the 3 point line. He didn’t lose a single game during the game play portion of the event.
Honorable Mentions
Jaylen Davison (2021, 6’3″, Walled Lake Central)
Davison is so smooth on the basketball court. He can play on or off the ball and can create in a 1-on-1 matchup. Davison can lead a break as well as fill in on the wing.
Makhi McCombs (2021, 6’4″, Flushing)
McCombs just made things happen. He moved without the ball, freeing himself for open looks at the rim. McCombs was solid on the glass on both ends.
Freddie McIntosh (2020, 5’11”, Saginaw)
I loved the quiet confidence that McIntosh displayed at Let’s Get Ready III. He recently verbally committed to SVSU. McIntosh was confident with his jumper and showed range well past the 3 point line.
Thaddeus Powell (2020, 6’5″, DEPSA)
Powell was dominant on Sunday. His ability to finish above the rim was just one aspect of his game that screamed “NEXT LEVEL”. Powell can put the ball on the floor and is a 3 level scorer. He’s the type of combo forward that coaches will love.
Reed Schilling (2021, 6’5″, Flushing)
Schilling is so diverse in his game. At the Top 250 I was impressed with the way he was bouncy under the rim and attacked the glass. Yesterday he showed off his perimeter game with a quick release jumper with 3 point range.
Matt Skiba (2020, 6’5″, Utica Ford)
Skiba made a big statement on Sunday. He was an excellent post passer and was active on the glass picking up multiple put back buckets. Skiba showed that he could be crafty with the ball when finishing in transition.
Jacob Tomsich (2020, 6’1″, Midland Dow)
Tomsich is flat out one of the top 3 point shooters in Michigan. He doesn’t just have range. He’s got in the gym type range. That’s not all though, he’s developed a nice mid range game to go with it.
Derrick Voltz (2022, 6’4″, Carrollton)
Voltz needs to be on college coach’s radars immediately. He couldn’t be guarded at Let’s Get Ready III. His combination of athleticism, ball handling skills, and a pure shooters stroke are a lethal combination.
Izaia Williams (2020, 6’2″, Saginaw Arthur Hill)
Williams is going to have a breakout season. Feel free to screenshot this. He talks and communicates on both ends so him and his teammates are always on the same page. Williams is an extremely efficient player.
