Jeff Norment/Lucas King Recruiting Updates

<p>Point guards help coaches establish a program's identity.  So much is put on the shoulder's of the lead guard and in the Class of 2020 two of Tennessee's best are <strong>Lucas King</strong> and <strong>Jeff Norment</strong>. Lucas King attends McKenzie High and Norment starts for the powerful Bolivar Central High.</p> <p>Norment feels the most love coming from Freed-Hardeman and Byran College. </p> <p>"I should be taking a visit to Bryan College this weekend," shared Norment Monday evening.</p> <p>West Tennessee guards are among the best in the country, but players outside of the Memphis orbit tend to be overlooked.  Last winter <strong>Jadarius Harris </strong>of Peabody High earned Mr. Basketball honors.  Our website elevated him from #50 to #39 before his senior season, but we still didn't realize how dominant he could be.  </p> <p>Familiar to PrepHoopsTN, Norment and King are two more examples of largely unheralded West Tennessee guards.</p> <p>Norment maintains communication with multiple NAIA programs.  Cumberland University talks consistently with Norment.  Kentucky-based Southern University is discussing the potential of Jeff to play for them in the future.</p> <h2>Jeff Norment's Current List of Interest</h2> <p>Mars Hill College (NC) D2<br /> Cumberland University (NAIA)<br /> Southern University (KY-NAIA)<br /> Freed-Hardeman (NAIA)<br /> Carson-Newman (D2)<br /> Citadel (D1)<br /> LaGrange (D3)  Offered<br /> Morehead State (D1)<br /> Columbia State Community College (JuCo)<br /> Walters State (CC)<br /> Southwest Mississippi (CC)<br /> University of NC Greensboro (D1)<br /> Bryan College (NAIA)<br /> Hampden-Sydney (D3)<br /> Henderson State (D2)<br /> Point Park University (NAIA)</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6gC9a8p6ok&amp;feature=youtu.be</p> <p>LaGrange is the oldest private university in Georgia.  The D3 school was Norment's first offer and he hopes to build off that foundation.</p> <p>Division 1 offers have eluded Jeff Norment so far.  Morehead State expressed a modicum of interest and you might remember the MSU Eagles signed and now educate Julius Dixon (TN).  It would be unlikely for Norment to attract a MSU offer in the next month or so.  A big senior year could summon new programs to Bolivar Central High though.</p> <h2>Lucas King</h2> <p>McKenzie won their district in 2019 on the way to posting a remarkable 29-win season.  King was instrumental in the regular season success and together the Rebels of MHS continued that success into the postseason.</p> <p>Humboldt denied the McKenzie Rebels their shot at redemption.  Despite losing to Columbia Academy mid-January, McKenzie rattled off 14 straight wins.  They pummeled Perry County, Summertown, slipped by Loretto to win the R6A Regional.  Wins over East Robertson and University High vaulted MHS to that State Semifinal.  If they were able to oust Humboldt, MHS would have met Columbia Academy again.  They did not beat Humboldt and did not get that chance.  </p> <p>McKenzie High is a proud program.  They won 26 games in 2014-2015.  In fact, the Rebels won 23 straight games that season only falling to Lake County in the Regional Tournament.  With seniors like Lucas King, Micah Austin, and Lazarick Hill it is sure to be another exciting season. </p> <p>Will Lucas King play after its conclusion? </p> <p>Almost certainly.  The sterling shooter doubles as the lead guard.  His handles are dazzling and his shooting touch is refined through hardwork.  King earned his way onto the surging EAB AAU program this summer.  King's recruiting kicked off in September. </p> <p>"This week we have heard from Roanoke, Sewanee, Luther College," shared McKenzie Head Coach John Wilkins late September.  </p> <p>Ideally, Lucas King would find a program that he could help promote and even mold their identity with guidance from the coaching staff.  His technical skills are merely the end result of countless hours in the gymnasium training, often on his own before school.  Lucas is self-motivated and a natural winner. </p> <p><em>For the latest recruiting news follow @AndrewForce8.</em></p>
