This is a prospect we had heard about, but it was our first time seeing him in person. The 6’8” mobile four man was electric getting on the offensive glass for second chance opportunities. He is a bouncy power forward that rebounds at a high level. Quick around the hoop and snatched rebounds at a high rate. Long and rangy frame that should fill out in time. Offensively he finished dump off passes, threw down a nasty alley-oop, and displayed touch around the hoop. Hylton even hit a corner three late in the day. Then on the second day he went off shooting it drilling an array of threes in every game we saw with a feathery touch from the outside. Covers ground defensively with his mobility and length. This Canadian prospect will debut very high in our next update of the 2022 class.
Hylton talked about the experience at Pangos.
“I thought I played pretty well. I didn’t play as well as I could have, but I thought I shot the ball well, got to the rim, wasn’t hogging the ball too much, and was playing the right way. I thought it was a good camp for me.”
The sophomore broke down his strengths as a player.
“I can stretch the floor. I am 6’8” so I am tall. I am a good rebounder and off the defensive rebound I can push the ball and play a guard role, get my teammates involved, and go coast to coast. Off the catch or off the dribble I can shoot the ball from three.”
Why did he make the move from Canada to Lake Forest Academy?
“I made the move for exposure. Coach Kunz does a great job of getting us in the gym at 6 AM getting better every day. It was to get better and put my name out there. I feel like I am one of the top players in Illinois. I am looking forward to winning every day and get ranked #1 in Illinois.”
Surprisingly his recruitment is slow at this point.
“I have got a couple letters, but it is pretty quiet right now. That is what I am looking most forward too.”
Expect him to see his recruitment soar in the very near future! After Pangos Camp Illinois stopped by to see him work out at Lake Forest Academy. On the travel team circuit he played with Project Excellence and North Toronto Elite last summer.
