19-20 First Look: Cretin-Derham Hall

<p>The Raiders were 22-7 last year and they replaced the graduated spots in the line-up with excellent players.  Talent with more experience and a better chemistry could lead CDH to the state tournament. </p> <p><strong>Moving On</strong>: The Raiders graduated four seniors last year including one senior, Jaeden King.  King was the leading scorer at 21 points a game and is now at Western Illinois.  Karsten Broadley unfortunately had an injury that led to him missing 14 of the 29 games and about the team he went out, Josiah Remus-Ford started helping off the bench.  Both have moved on to college as has reserve Ben Gallaher. </p> <p><strong>Returning Starters</strong>: The returning starters are <strong>Tre Holloman, Curtis Jones, Amari Carter, and Will Burke</strong>.  Holloman is one of the best lead guards in the sophomore class nationwide and he takes massive steps forward every year.  Tre is the type of playmaker that will make the Raiders a potential 25 game winner, and Holloman is one of the best players that fans will enjoy each night. His feel for the game is at a level that few can ever reach.  Jones is the composed senior guard with one of the best shooting touches in the state and Carter is an athletic wing that scored 13 a game a year ago (Jones averaged 14 a contest).  Curtis Jones is one of the more mature senior talents you will watch which results in efficiency.  We predict that Curtis wil have a massive season.  Will Burke was the starting center a year ago as a physical worker, and he will return to that role.  </p> <p><strong>Reserves Playing a Bigger Role:   </strong>Six-foot-5 senior <strong>Joseph Akoh</strong> and 6-foot-3 junior <strong>Al Flemming</strong> both played roles off the bench last season earning a few rotations each game and playing some JV.  Akoh will likely add some support in the post especially when the Raiders take on the several quality Class AAAA squads with size.  </p> <p><strong>Potentials from the JV:  </strong>When CDH was playing this summer the fifth guy on the floor was junior <strong>Jack Tauer</strong>.  Jack is a high IQ basketball player that works hard and is regularly in the right position.  We spoke of size and the Raiders have more players that can join Burke and Akoh up front as they try and limit guys like Ben Carlson, Dain Dainja, Steven Crowl, and others.  Those players are seniors <strong>Jack Clipper</strong> (6-foto-4) and <strong>Danny McGraw</strong> (6-foot-6).  Both had solid 17u seasons. </p> <p><strong>New to Town:  </strong>King left with 21 points a game, <strong>J'Vonne Hadley</strong> transferred to the Raiders after scoring 28 points a contest Mahtomedi.  J'Vonne will step right into the four guard line-up only he will supply more scoring around the basket, more boards, and more size at 6-foot-6.  J'Vonne can play at the arc but then use his explosive ability and aggressive approach to help around the basket as well.  It's the perfect addition.</p>
