Who will be at the Expo in Burnsville this weekend and what are we looking forward to seeing? That's today's discussion in the Expo Preview.

10 Things to Watch

Does Yusuf Abdullah (Patrick Henry) rank with the best defenders in the state? Can somebody score on him?

Guard Sean Buchanan (Mayer Lutheran) has a big role this winter on a top Class A team. What can we expect in those 30 minutes a game?

One of the centers college coaches will be watching is Cole Chapman (Mahtomedi) who stands 6-foot-10 and strong. How has his game progressed in the last couple months?

One of the top scorers at the event will be Jack Fisher. It's time to see what Jack can do against guys from around the state at the Expo. He's a 20 plus per game guy so Jack might be our biggest focus on Sunday.

There are three guys that led Shakopee consistently last year: Charlie Katona, Will Cordes, and Caleb Druvenga. Caleb will have a great senior year but this weekend it will be interesting to see the level of playmaker he is.

Guard play. It's essential. And some of the best will be going head to head. We've mentioned Yusef, Buchanan, Cabe, and Fisher. More names include Maciah Harut, Tariq Henry, Grant Jensen, Tait Nelson, Amir Whitlock, DJ Miller, and Joseph Kearney. If we could have a 16 player 1 on 1 tournament of guards I would love it because we could see how each of these guys move their feet and defend.

There are some players at this event that I am really high on. Guys like Austin Wetter of Monticello, Josh Rogers of Minneapolis Washburn, James Sommer of Cristo Rey, and Noah Puetz of Marshall. Guys that could be the 2020 MVP of this event. Are they legit scholarship guys? It's an item to watch closely.

How good is Illinois transfer Sawyer Shrake who is now at Hopkins? Shrake looked strong in the summer events for Hopkins. What kind of prospect is here and can he play a big hand in the defense of a state title?

The STMA pair Evan Wieker and Kale Hoselton. They led STMA in scoring last year and both looked like solid NAIA or MIAC prospects this spring with Comets DLR. This will be a good event to see where their skill sets are at.

Who will be the surprise? Will it be Mason Klett from Apple Valley, a guy we watched have a 30+ game this summer? Will it be Ethan Rens who is listed now at 6-foot-6? Maybe Matt Sieben from Sartell, Keagen Smith of Delano who had a great set of Breakdown Summer Series showings, or maybe one of the several Maple Grove players (Miller, RaShaun Parker, Lovell Williams).

This will be a very fun event and what should be a competitive event. I'm looking for to the last round of games when guys are tired and getting loose. Who is going to keep defending?

The Top 250 Expo is a chance to prove yourself. But make sure you do it as much on defense as you do it on offense. In fact, a top defensive performance will catch the eye often more than a couple jumpers. Just ask one of my favorite defenders in the state Yusuf Abdullah!
