JaDakis Mack 6’2″ Sr. OG (Lima Sr.) – JaDakis may have been the biggest find and the person with the most upside along with Brenton Walker at the event. Coming in ranked #66 on the 2020 list, he is someone that could be as high as top 20-30 now. JaDakis is an explosive scoring guard who was able to score at will during the event. He is strong, quick and very skilled. He really did most of his work getting to the rim both in transition and in the half court (INCLUDING A LOT OF DUNKS BOTH IN THE 1/2 CT & TRANSITION) and in the mid range pull ups. He also showed he was capable of make 3’s and he is a good passer as well. While not a great defender early, he showed when he wanted, he could be some who has the capabilities to become a locked down defender. The biggest question I have is how he will do in a structured program. Is he someone that does well in an event that does not have a lot of structure and struggles in programs with structure, OR is he your classic late bloomer who comes out of no where and ends up being one of the top players in the state. Any school from MM-D2 need to get up to Lima and find out a lot more about JaDakis. I am planning on getting up to Lima this winter to see for myself as well.
Jaidon Lipscomb 6’3″ Sr. OG (Dohn Prep) – Jaidon really shot the ball well from behind the arc on Saturday. While he’s ok off the bounce, he really likes to shoot it deep from 3. He does take some bad shots and looked to hunt shots at the event, be he is capable of hitting 2-3 in row and 4-5 in a game. D2 that need a shooter need to check Jaidon out.
Elias Palmer 6’2″ Sr. OG (Elyria Catholic) – Elias is some that is not overly athletic, but knows how to play. He is very skilled off guard and can play a little point in a pinch. To me, his two biggest traits/strengths are his feel and ability to shoot the ball from 3. Elias needs to get strong and spend a lot of time in the weight room so he is prepare for the physicality of college basketball. All D2 that need a 2 guard who knows how to play, plays hard, takes good shots and can make shots, need to head to Elyria Catholic to see if he is a fit for your program and needs.
Kameron Taylor 6’3″ Sr. OG (Spire Academy) – Kameron came in unranked but made a little name for himself Saturday. He is athletic who can score from 3 and slashing to the cup. Did not see him score much in the mid-range/pull up off the bounce, but has the ability to do that with work. I would recommend anybody from a LM-D2 to check out Kameron to see if he is what you are looking for in your program.
Ethan Smith 5’10” So. OG (Olentangy) – Ethan is ranked 86th in the 2022 class. His number one strength is that he is a Big Time shooter from 3, at least he was on Saturday. While he has the ability to be a great shooter, he is more then just someone that can shoot from deep. He has the ability to create a little, especially if he remembers that his #1 strength is his 3 and plays off that. Like a lot of sophomores, he needs to get stronger and must get quicker. Right now his inability to defend/keep people in front of him will let him to the level he can play. With that in mind, I hope he reads this and understand that he must be a mean/bulldog type on the defensive end and transform himself into at least an average defender. That and his size will determine what level he plays at in 3 years.
Ayden Parsons 6’0″ So. CG (Worthington Kilbourne) – Ayden is a young Combo guard that played well Saturday and caught my eye. He may have the purest shooting stroke at the event and every shot coming off his hands when his feet are set looks like it is going in. In addition, Ayden plays with a toughness that he needs, since he is no the most athletic. Very skilled and is a decent passer as well. Although is was unranked before the event, I see him being added to the list sometime this winter. I don’t want to put a definite level down because of his youth. Will he get tall? Will he become stronger and more explosive? Will he continue to work hard and add elements to his game? Those are all the questions that will be answered in the next couple years.
Sebastian McClellan 6’3″ Sr. CG (Toledo St. Francis de Sales) – Sebastian is another unranked player that made a little name for himself. To me his biggest strength is his ability to shoot the ball. Very good shooter who knocked down shots all day. He also showed that he can put the ball on the floor and get to the cup. He does need to do a better job of finishing, especially in traffic. He is a decent athlete and it shows on pullups. D2’s and lower that need a combo guard need to check in on Sebastian as well.
