He says competing for Perry Ellis Elite has helped his game grow as he has focused much of his offseason training on improving his outside shooting.
“Playing for Team PE34 has been great, coach Troy and coach Van have helped me a lot in this game,” Miller says. “Coach Troy taught me a lot on offense and how to control the ball more. It has gotten ready for high school ball as far as handling he pressure and being able to defend.
“This off season I’ve been working on my 3 pt shooting, I’ve improved a lot in that part of the game. I’ve also been working on how to read different offenses and how to adjust on my defense.”
Miller mostly spent his sophomore season playing JV and got in a handful of varsity games as well.
“When I got Varsity time I did everything I could to help my squad, even if it was only for 10 seconds I gave it my all for however long I was out there. I felt I brought the energy and the defense,” he says.
Miller says his uncles Rone Smith and Larry Griffin have had the biggest influence on his basketball career to date.
“They helped me so much as far as getting me in the gym and just keeping me on track in school,” he says. “They both taught me how to make my shot better and they taught me most of my craft. Another person I look up to is Lebron. He’s my favorite of all time. I watch him and take parts of his game and try to include them in my game.”
A fan of Lebron James, Miller says he enjoys watching the NBA legend’s all-around game.
“He can do everything,” Miller says. “His passing ability is off the charts man. He gets his team involved. He can shoot, attack the basket and slam the rock. I try to implement his passing ability and his court vision into my game.”
