At 6’3, Wing is a dynamic player who takes pride in playing a positionless brand of basketball and tries to have an impact on each game in whatever way is needed to help his team.
He spent the season running with Allen Skeens’ Drive5 Power Elite 2023 squad and says the experience helped prepare him for the rigors of varsity basketball.
“Coach Skeens challenges us on and off the court,” Wing says. “He provides opportunities for us to be successful and to get better all around. Playing with this team has made me realize how well I can play on a big stage, against some of the top talent in the country, exposed some of my flaws, and provided me with opportunities to get better at those things.”
Wing says he has been focused on becoming a stronger finisher. He got his first in-game dunk earlier this year, and says it helped him realize how much stronger he has gotten in recent months.
“Now I am trying to learn how to finish at the rim when I attack,” he says.
He says he is looking to fit in with an already talented Bishop Miege squad and find his way as a freshman newcomer.
“As a new guy, I am looking to have an impact wherever possible,” Wing said. “I play at a fast pace, hustle and will always compete.”
He says a former coach, Jerome Hooks, has had a big impact on his basketball career.
“Coach Hooks was the first coach to give me an opportunity to play with and against some of the best players in and out of Kansas City,” he said. “He prepared me to be tough and made playing hard fun.”
A fan of fast paced teams and players, Wing says he enjoys watching teams like West Virginia and North Carolina, or players like Tre Jones from Duke.
“I like how he guards full court and makes offense from his defense,” Wing said. “I try to play with that type of energy defensively. Offensively I like to play in transition and attack by moving without the ball.”
