Here is a look at some of these athletes, from the best the best player in the country to players that are rising up the rankings:
Nick Branton (2020, 6’8″, C, South Lyon East, The Academy By O3):
Branton sent a message this summer. He’s big and strong, and should be a force in the paint. Branton showed athleticism this grassroots season which certainly helped his climb up the prospect rankings.
Pierre Brooks Jr. (2020, G/F, Detroit Frederick Douglass)
Brooks is as steady as they come and has an extremely high knowledge and understanding of the game. He proved all summer that he was a versatile 3 level scorer. Brooks is seeing the results of his performances as high major offers start to roll in.
Linden Holder (2021, 5’10”, PG, De La Salle, Michigan Goonies)
Holder had a HUGE grassroots season. He started especially strong in the spring, leading his Goonies team to great success. Holder showed the ability to lead, create off the dribble, and hit the open jumper.
Freddie McIntosh (2020, 5’10”, PG, Saginaw, The Program)
McIntosh is one of the most highly regarded prospects in Michigan under 6’0″. He’s a strong athlete that plays a ferocious style of basketball. McIntosh will bulldog his way to the bucket and finish at the rim.
Omar Ziegler (2021, 6’5″, SG, Detroit King, Michigan Playmakers)
The Playmakers keep pushing out Division 1 talent, and Ziegler could be next. He’s a multi level scorer who won’t blow you out of the gym with his athleticism, but will keep beating you down with big plays and smart plays. Ziegler is a must watch talent from here on out. EDIT: Just watched more film on Ziegler. I stand corrected. He beats you down WITH his athleticism.
Emoni Bates (2022, 6’8″, F, Ypsilanti Lincoln, Bates Fundamentals)
How can you be called the most talented prospect in Michigan since Chris Webber and be named a stockriser? Go dominate the competition and be called the most talented 15 year old since Kevin Durant. Bates is like a teenage rock star and thrives on the big stage. He’s smooth as can be all over the floor, allowing him to basically play any position.
Mason Docks (2022, PG, Williamston, Legacy Elite)
Docks is an incredibly disciplined lead guard, especially for an underclassmen. Williamston certainly has their point guard for the next 3 years. Docks is fleet of foot, has good handles, and solid defensively on the ball.
Jack Karasinski (2022, 6’5″, SF, Grand Rapids Catholic Central, MBA)
Karasinski has put himself near the top of the class of 2022 in Michigan. He can attack from the perimeter as well as battle in the paint. Karasinski is an elite wing with Division 1 potential.
