Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the state’s top performers throughout the spring and summer.
24-Amos Munch Alford, 6’5, G/F, 2020, Wichita East, Grind Elite 17U
An athletic player who can do his job inside or play on the perimeter as a guard or a scoring wing player. A well-rounded and versatile defensive player, Alford is capable of attacking a defender off the bounce, getting the basket and finishing in traffic. He has good length and can get in the passing lanes or block shots around the basket.
30 — John Boyer, 6’6, PF, 2020, Olathe South, KC Pacers
Boyer is an underrated prospect who excelled this summer as a hard working interior player who runs the floor well, finishes in traffic and gets on the boards and blocks shots. He has a strong, athletic frame at 6’6 and has good size for an interior player. Boyer draws fouls and gets to the free throw line often where he is a capable free throw shooter.
17-Phil Bell, 6’5, 2020, Saint Thomas Aquinas, KC Silver
Bell is a strong rebounder and presence in the paint who can also step outside and shoot from the perimeter. He is a hard worker who is comfortable defending in the post and is a good rebounder. Bell put together a strong summer running with Team KC and much bigger than his listed height would suggest.
34-Cameron Clausing, 6’5, F, 2020, El Dorado, Kansas MTXE 17U
Clausing is a versatile post player who opens up the floor with his 3-point shot. He can knock down open shots from the perimeter but also put together a strong summer playing in the paint. He can knock down short jumpers and uses the glass well, but can also back opponents into the paint in the post and score around the basket.
