Recruiting Report: Jared Billups (2021)
It did not take long for Jared Billups to make an impact at the Will Barton Elite Camp over the weekend. The athletic 6-foot-5 small forward was all over the court on both ends. He ferociously blocked shots, relentlessly crashed the offensive glass, and aggressively looked for scoring opportunities.
“Honestly, you just gotta play hard,” Billups said when asked what one can do to stand out in a camp setting. “Play defense, and play together.”
Billups mentioned that he believes his offensive ability might be the most underrated aspect of his overall game. Whether it’s his jump shot or his ability to score in general, he’s quite clearly been putting in work and the results continue to show.
Several Ivy League schools, including Yale, Brown, and Princeton, are among those actively recruiting Billups at the moment. Others currently standing out in his recruitment include Loyola, Mount St. Mary’s, Radford, and UMass-Lowell.
“Two schools that I want to go visit are Yale and Radford,” he stated.
What is next for Billups as he prepares for his junior season?
“My main goal is just getting better offensively. Keeping an aggressive mindset when I’m playing.”
Jared Billups is currently ranked by Prep Hoops as a top-35 prospect in his class. To view the full ranking of Maryland and DC’s 2021 class, click here.
