These players are for sure college prospects, at a couple different levels. Take a look!
• Qian Magwood (6’1” / PG / Walnut Ridge): A sure fire D1 football prospect that gets it done on the hardwood as well. Magwood may be playing on Saturdays a year from now, but at least we have one more winter with the senior on the hardwood. Magwood brings energy to the court from the lead guard spot. Can throw lobs, dish offs and kick outs from the guard position. Qian can let it fly from deep, and athletic enough to finish acrobatically around the hoop. Magwood will be a part of a senior trio that leads the Scots this winter, as they did last season. For now he’s burning opposing defenses. Magwood would fit well with a high D2 program, if he decided to go that route.
• Chris Scott (6’3” / WG / Pickerington North): Scott is in a sense, the swiss Army knife for Pick North. Scott is versatile and can defend a couple positions as well as handle the ball, or work off it. The senior is athletic and that comes from football, where he is a D1 football recruit for a good Panthers team. As a guard Scott has the ability to maneuver through defenders and finish at the rack in multiple ways. Chris has some bounce to his game, and can use it above the rim when needed. Also, has the ability to roll off screens and score. Scott will likely play college football, but definitely a basketball prospect in his own right.
• Trevon Ellis (6’3” / G / Stivers / Hidden Gems Black): Ellis played on a HG team with plenty of guard talent, and he’s definitely in the mix of that. Battling injury Elias is currently out and may miss all or part of his senior season. When the lengthy guard is on the court, he’s a problem. A lead guard that can be a mismatch for opposing guards at 6-3. Ellis works well off the dribble drive, whether it’s finishing strong or dishing it off. The seniors shot when hitting, takes his game to another level. Using his size on defense is big as well, where he has the potential to shutdown opposing ball handlers.
• Conner Maciag (6’2” / G / Pickerington Central / Apex Gold): Maciag is in a unique postion, because it’s finally his chance at Pick Central. The senior guard will be one of the top options for the Tigers this coming winter. Maciag can handle the ball, or work off of it. He’s athletic enough to finish around the rim however he needs to. A shooter you can’t leave open, and works well off the bounce. Conner also can create for teammates, mainly off the drive and kick. I could see schools add Maciag to their radar after a solid senior season he’s in store for.
• Addison Harvey (6’0” / G / Delaware Hayes): Addison Harvey is one of the tougher players in the area, but underrated. A multi-sport athlete that is easy to coach, because all he does is compete. If there is a loose ball you can bet that Harvey is getting after it. Harvey can finish around the rim, or shoot it when left open. I like his intensity on defense, as he really brings it. A two-way guard that should start at the two for Hayes this season, potentially. Harvey is a player that D3 schools should definitely key in on.
