One of the many unsung team’s representing the city of Las Vegas was a team full of shooters from local high school Faith Lutheran.
Team Rogue Las Vegas ended Day 1 of the tournament in thrilling fashion by staging a late double digit comeback to win. The catalyst for their come back was 16 year old sharp shooter Coleman Lemke.
Coleman Lemke- Lemke stands tall and lanky at 6″7. Big time players show up in big moments. Ice water certainty runs through this young man’s veins. However, the big stage isn’t foreign to this young man as he started his AAU career with the world famous Vegas Elite team.
The moment Lemke walked on the floor you knew this kid belonged in that moment. He started off warm ups with a thunderous dunk and gave the crowd in attendance an early show by showing off his silky smooth jump shot. Once the game began Lemke found comfort in his sweet spot by knocking down a few long elbow jump shots.
However, that would not be enough as his team went into halftime trailing by double digits. It is in these moments where you learn about someone’s character sometimes in life you learn more from a loss than you do from a win. At halftime Lemke’s head coach looked at him and nodded you know what to do. Lemke pounded his chest and it was game time from that moment on.
In the second half Lemke knocked down three pointer after three pointer. You know you are a problem when the opposing coach screams “HE IS A SHOOTER.” That’s all the opposing coach could do is yell because Lemke’s high arching shot mixed with his 6’7 frame makes it quite hard to block his shot.
After the game Lemke pointed to his willingness to take over a game as a key component to his success as a basketball player “I am a very willing scorer with a high motor. My passion to compete allows me to find comfort on the floor.”
Coleman Lemke is only a 16 year old sophomore he has plenty of time to fine tool every aspect of his game and add more muscle but once he does he would like to take his talents to his home town Louisiana Monroe and play his collegiate ball for his beloved War Hawks.
As of right now he and Team Rogue Las Vegas want to rep their state and take home the gold in the Las Vegas classic. Their the under dog Vegas team. That is a position where they feel comfortable. Showing grit and determination by closing out such a nail biting first game is a testament to that statement. As far as Coleman Lemke is concerned leave him wide open if you want too.
