120 players from Arizona, California and Nevada. They will be divided into 12 teams of 10 on each team. Each team was assigned a PAC-12 school name and all teams will play 5 times. After each team is done with their 5 games, then one possible extra All-Star game. There will be 3 games with a Top-20, Top-40 and an Underclassman All-Star game.
Before we get to the All-Star games, let’s look at some of the fun forward matchups:
Game 3 on main court Isaiah Broady vs Colin Carey.
-This is one of my favorite matchups of the Camp. Both come in with big games and have had some big scoring games during the live-periods, HS and or showcases. Broady received two D1 offers recently and Carey is still trying to get that first one. So this game is more of seeing how close is Carey from Broady? Both can shoot it with range and have some bounce. Many eyes will be on this one.
Game 3 on white court Jalen Johnson vs Logan Phillips.
-2 long and lean 6’7ish forwards who both can shoot it plus play above the rim. Johnson is a 2019 that is prepping and should get a lot of coaches to look at him this year. Phillips holds 1 D1 offer and is talking with many more. Both highly competitive and it should be a fun matchup.
Game 4 on the main court Dyson Lighthall vs Ramon Farias (CA).
-The battle of the true big man. Lighthall is a threat from inside but can shoot it from deep too and the big man from CA is reportedly a tough player inside. I’m excited to see this battle unfold.
Game 1 on Wednesday on main court Dende Ceder vs Nikola Gasic.
-The two centers are both somewhat men of mystery. I have seen Ceder play a few times on his AZ Compass team but never was featured. Then Gasic comes in from Serbia and literally arrives Monday just to play in the camp. At near 6’10 and 6’11, this should be an intriguing matchup.
Game 3 on Wednesday on main court Zereoue Williams vs Grady Lewis.
-Two post players with good games. Williams is becoming one of the top defensive players in the junior class and Lewis uses his athleticism and chiseled frame to do his job. It will be interesting to see who gets the best of who.
