Continue ReadingVery soon Prep Hoops will produce the initial top 250 national rankings for the 2022 class and someplace in the top group of that list will be Cretin-Derham Hall point guard Tre Holloman.
Already Tre has earned scholarship offers from Minnesota, Baylor, Texas, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
“It feels good to be recruited as a freshman but I have to just stay humble,” Holloman said to Prep Hoops. “I have to keep doing what I am doing every day. ‘m hearing from Minnesota of course, Wisconsin, I just heard from Michigan State, and Iowa just offered me. I’m hearing from several Big Ten schools.”
Tre is the point guard of the Howard Pulley Panthers playing up two levels. He is averaging 7.6 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.6 rebounds a game shooting 46.3 percent from the field in 13 games. The experience has taken Holloman’s game to a higher level.
“It’s been good,” Holloman said of playing with the Panthers. My defense is getting better because I am playing against top guards.
“I’m learning how to get my shot off in better ways because in the EYBL you are always playing against big men at many positions. The environment of the EYBL is amazing. It’s future college and NBA players, and the players that are competing are really good.”
This weekend Holloman will lead the Raiders into the Breakdown State Tournament against the best teams in the state of Minnesota at the Class AAAA level. CDH will be a top five team in Class AAAA and a title contender.
“Our goal next year is first to be conference champs, then section champs, and then state champs,” Holloman said. “I feel like we are going to be better than last year. We will be able to move the ball more and we have some pieces coming, and we got a long and athletic team.”
When he’s not competing with the Raiders or Panthers, Tre is in the gym getting ready for next winter.
“I want to improve my mid-range game, I want to improve my shot off the dribble, and I want to get better at catching and shoo from three,” Holloman said. “I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing.”
