<p>One of the guys that had a tremendous summer league for<strong> Potomac</strong> is their senior leader, 6'9, <strong>Jamel Melvin</strong>. During <strong>Capitol Hoops Summer League</strong> he averaged 17.5 points per game while averaging 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game. He talked about his summer.</p>
<p> "I think we had a strong summer as a team. Everybody is getting better and we are just going to continue to work hard to make sure we are ready for the season"</p>
<p>Potomac is going to go through Melvin in the post this upcoming season as he is their loan big man and he has embraced that role.</p>
<p>"My role is to be the leader and get my guy's going whether it is offensively or defensively. I always have to protect the rim being the biggest guy on the team.</p>
<p>After <strong>DMV Live 1</strong> and <strong>DMV Live 2</strong>, he started to hear from more and more colleges.</p>
<p>"I am starting to hear from more and more coaches, it is definitely picking up."</p>
<p>Two local schools have really stood out to him and he briefly discussed them with us.</p>
<p><strong>Loyola (MD)</strong>: "I took a visit after DMV Live 1, they have a nice campus, I like the coach and we have had a lot of good conversation."</p>
<p><strong>American</strong>: "I have been talking to the coaches on the phone, we have been having good conversation ever since we played in American team camp.</p>
<p>Melvin is currently the <a href="https://prephoops.com/virginia/rankings/2020-rankings/"><strong>26th ranked prospect in our 2020 Virginia State rankings</strong></a><strong>.</strong> </p>
