Barry Dunning (McGill-Toolen)- This kid is turning into a monster. The 6’5-6’6 wing is extremely athletic and has a smooth jumper. Barry can guard 1-4 and play multiple positions offensively. As he continues to mature, his ball skill will only improve.
Tyrese Elliot (Sparkman)- This kid had one of the biggest summers. Tyrese plays with confidence and is constantly in attack mode. The 6’1 guard can score from all 3 levels and is a very good perimeter rebounder. Don’t sleep on this kid… he is way more athletic than we thought.
Will Shaver (Oak Mountain)- This kid is going to be special. The 6’8 post played well for Pro One Select during the spring/summer. Will has the ability to stretch a defense with his shooting stroke and has developed into a good post defender.
Antonio Kite (Anniston)- This kid is a walking highlight. Kite is a baller. He’s very good with the ball in his hands and creating opportunities. This point guard is exciting to watch, and Kite just makes plays. He has excellent control and change of pace.
Martavious Russell (Sipsey Valley)- The 6’3-6’4 wing is a special talent. Russell can defend all 3 perimeter spots and play multiple positions offensively. This kid is way more athletic than he looks. As Russell continues to develop, I see him sliding into the 2 guard spot full time.
Knute Wood (Brooks)- Knute is a kid that could be top 3 in this class if he continues to develop and grow into his frame. He is already 6’3 and plays the game with a high IQ. This kid can play and defend both guard spots. Knute is definitely a prospect to watch closely.
Calen Lightford (Sparkman)- This kid is a warrior. He plays much bigger than he is, and Calen is not afraid to take big shots. A 5’9 listed height might be generous, but this point guard can play. Calen has really good vision, a tight handle, and a deadly jumper.
Jonathan Murray (Huffman)- Murray is one of my favorites to watch. This kid does a lot of things well. The 6’6 forward really does not have a position. You can slide this kid into different spots on the floor and he will excel with his athleticism and length. As his ball skill improves, he may transition to a full time 3.
J’Quan Broxson (Geneva Co)- Easily one of the best athletes in the class. Broxson already has great athleticism, size (6’5), and instinct on the perimeter. He has shown the ability to make open jumpers, but his strengths are attacking the rim and cleaning up the glass.
Jacari Lane (Lee-Huntsville)- Jacari is the new face to the top 10. The 5’11 point guard is gifted with a tight crafty handle and excellent change of pace. This kid also understands how to play without the ball. He has good vision and sees the entire court. Needs to get stronger physically.
