There are several youngsters preparing for a breakout sophomore season in 2019-20 with some hard work being put in this summer.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2022 class
Xavier Esquibel, 5’11, G, 2022, Topeka
Chose promise as an athlete and ball-handler. He’s young but has a good feel for the game and understands his role and what it takes to see playing time against older players. He can shoot well and has good vision and pass as well on the move.
Sam Westfall, 5’4, G, 2022, Mulvanne, KANSAS MTXE 16U
a shorter player who brings a lot of hustle to the floor. He runs hard and is very quick up and down the floor. He handles it some and shoots it as well. He is good at keeping his space and can actually get a shot off inside some. Westfall looks to pass the ball and keep it away from his opponents.
Collin Rucker, 5’11, G, 2022, Andover, KANSAS MTXE 16U
A good rebounder for his size who can play physical and strong defense. He looks to tip away passes and gets the ball where it needs to be. Rucker can score when he’s focused and has an open look and is feeling confident. He can handle it and is asked to play hard against older players.
Brenden Galloway, 6’2, G/F, 2022, Cirde
A guy who has potential for a solid inside out game. He handles himself well around the basket and she gets to the free-throw line. He makes good decisions around the mid-range area and can shoot or pass the ball out when he’s double teamed.
Casen Staulbaumer, 6’0, G/F, 2022, Seaman
A nice player who seems long for his size. He’s athletic and is very quick with the ball in his hands. He has a good reaction to defenses and is versatile and the transition game. he plays good defense on the ball and can switch out quickly and not cost his team a basket.
