With the June high school camp season in full swing and the all important July recruiting period looming ahead, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several rising juniors who are poised for breakout seasons in 2019-20.
Here, we take a look at several talented guards to watch.
Tank Young, 5’8, PG, 2021, Aquinas
One of the fastest players on the floor at any given time, young has great speed and in-game quickness that make him impossible to stay in front of. He has a mental toughness and in-game toughness as well in the guard position and shows great poise as a finisher inside. Also an excellent passer who can get the ball wherever it needs to be on the floor.
Ty Sides, 5’10, PG, 2021, Phillipsburg
a solid small school guard who brings great leadership and scoring ability to the point guard position. He is great at creating his own shot and can shake off defenders and even get to the whole as well. A solid playmaker who does everything you could ask for a scoring point guard.
Devon Junghans, 5’8, PG, 2021, Salina South
A good transition point guard who is fast with the ball and brings an edge to the floor. He is grade at creating his own shot and is aggressive when it matters. He attacks the basket and looks to create through his driving ability. Also an excellent free-throw shooter who can get to the line by selling contact and finishing plays.
Kaleb Gaddis, 5’9, PG, 2021, Andover
A strong player who plays a true point guard game. He is a high basketball IQ and is good at getting his teammates involved and making sure they’re getting their touches. He can also get to the basket a little and has a bouncy and crafty handle. He makes plays for everyone first but can roll the dice for himself.
Keegan Harrod, 5’6, G, 2021, Maize
A quick player who riak swell when he’s surrounded. He plays smart and is good at scoring inside and out against taller defenders. Is a solid jump shot and is also a sneaky defender who can take away passes and start his team’s fastbreak opportunities.
