As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions in the junior class.
Below are some of the state’s players on the rise in the 2020 class.
Carlos Esquibel, 6’3, G, 2020, Topeka
An intelligent guard with great size and skill. He has a versatile game and can
play well with the ball in his hands and can play without it as well. He’s a
very underrated in one-on-one situations as he has a great bounce and a nice
shake to his game. Also a shooter when it counts.
Malik Storey, 6’0, G, 2020, Wichita South
Storey plays the game a great speed. He can handle the ball some and goes all out as a defender and rebounder. He moves well vertically and gets up when he goes for the ball. Storey has a great motor and continues to make plays throughout the entire game. Also a capable scorer.
Cameron Heiman, 5’8, G, Northern Heights
A player who looks for those close shots around the basket. He isn’t as tall as other guards he usually has to defend but he has quick feet and is good at getting inside and shooting one-handed floaters or jumpers around the free throw line. He looks to pass and can also find his rhythm from distance.
Valdez White, 5’10, G, 2020, Lawrence
White looks to get the ball inside and score. He uses that momentum and then looks at distributing the ball inside or will fake inside and step back for a jumper. He is good at slashing and can get off shot against taller opponents in the transition game, which is one of his strongest areas of his game.
Raeshon Riddick, 6’4, G/F, 2020, Manhattan
Riddick has great height and good athleticism. He can score from distance, but he enjoys driving and seeing what he can do inside. He has a great game on the move and adapts well in transition and can finish plays. A guy who gets to the basket
and gets his shot up.
