One of the top breakout players from the DMV region over the past couple of weeks has been 2020 Andre Screen of St. Stephen's & St. Agnes. Screen is a 6'10 post man that has been excelling on both sides of the ball this summer. He is always completely wired on offense and defense and that is a reason why he has seen his recruitment take off in the recent weeks. During Capitol Hoops Summer League he is averaging 12.4 points per game, 7.8 rebounds per game and 2 blocks per game.

“I have had a good summer, things started with DC Premier and we kind of had a rough start but we are starting to jell together and I am excited for the Atlanta live period together and we are going in on a two game win streak so we are coming together as a team. Summer league with my high school team has been great. I have a bigger role this year since we do not have Charles Thompson anymore. I learned a lot from him and really helped me get my game better so I am hoping to do a good job filling his shoes and just guide my team to a lot of wins.”

He talked about what he is trying to bring to his team each time he steps onto the court, "I am just trying to score, always looking for my teammates to score and just play good team ball. I do not believe in always scoring the basketball, like when I am double teamed, I am going to try and make the pass.”

As he mentioned before, SSSA lost big man Charles Thompson because of graduation and Screen is now the guy that will be down low for the Saints.

“I definitely bring the scoring presence in the low post and also mid range game. I also feel like I bring a good defense presence. Having lost a great defender and overall a good energy guy in Charles Thompson, I really have to step up my defense interactions.

Screen has visited three schools unofficially recently with more to come. He has visited Virginia Tech, Mount. St. Mary's and Towson but is hoping to also visit some schools that he is hearing from like Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, George Mason, Cornell and Princeton.

He broke down three of the schools he has visited.

Virginia Tech: “It was a good visit. They did some scrimmaging and it is high level basketball.”

Mount St. Mary’s: “That was another great visit. They treated me well, they showed me around and it made it seem like they really want me and I really respect those guys and that program, they do not have the biggest facilities and everything but they work hard with what they got, so I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the coaching staff at Mount St. Mary’s.

Towson: “Another great campus that is spread out. They have some good recruits that are coming in and they are just great guys. The program has a great future ahead of them and I would be honored to maybe play for them one day.”

When asked about visiting other schools, he said, “I want to visit all the schools that I can because I am really about atmosphere, I want to go to a place with a good atmosphere.”
